Calling all authors

By Mia Ashley

COVID-19 did not stop SVCC’s Creative Writing II class from getting together and sharing their literary work.

The class hosted an Author’s Night event on Google Meet on Friday, April 9 from 7-9 pm. SVCC students and faculty with a few featured guest authors read their own work aloud for the public to hear.

Naomi Meeks, a student in Creative Writing II, explained “I hope the public can sit back, relax, and just have fun listening to creators.”

Meeks also comments “I feel that it's very important to give writers of all ages a platform to share their work. This is exactly what Author’s Night is doing.”

SVCC’s Creative Writing class normally hosts a literary reading event every semester.

Another SVCC event that includes literary readings, Fine Arts Performance Hour, is happening on Thursday, April 29 from 7-9.

For more questions or to see when the next literary event at SVCC will be, contact Professor Tom Irish at thomas.r.irish@svcc.edu.
